Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives

Days of Our Lives. Well, let's see, Days of Our lives takes place in a mythical town surrounded by chaos, evil, and disaster called Salem. Salem is filled with love triangles squares, and pentagons. It also consists of scheming villains and their poor unfortunate victims.

The most despised evil villains are people who will go to any lengths to keep the people they love. Sami, Kristen, Vivian, and Kate are three women who constantly scheme in order to take down their rivals. Sami is in love with her sister's soulmate, Austin. Austin and Carrie had to try three times to get married before succeeding. because of Sami and her one-time scheming counterpart, Lucas, Austin's brother. Lucas is in love with Carrie and agreed to help Sami get Austin so that he might get Carrie. Their schemes included drugging their wannabe lovers so that they can sleep with them, faking amnesia, as well as other ways to ruin the relationship between Austin and Carrie. Even after Austin and Carrie are married, they are unsuccessful in escaping from sami's tricks. Austin's mother, Kate is aware of this, but because Sami knows too much about her past, she must keep quiet if she doesn't want her family to turn against her.

In exchange for Sami's silence, Kate must give Sami a high position at Titan, Kate's company. Meanwhile, Sami's twin brother, Eric has returned to Salem and plays the impartial brother. Other than his resentment towards John Black for having an affair with his mother, he seems to be a perfect guy: coffee drinking photographer with a darkroom in his apartment. But he must have a secret past, after all don't all soap studs?

The Billie and Hope dilemma is probably the most interesting. The triangle here is not a direct result of a scheming individual. Bo and Hope were married and had a boy, Shawn-Douglass (named after his grandfather). Hope disappeared and was presumed dead by her family. Meanwhile, Bo met Billie. Shawn-D noticed Billie had a roommate who had a striking resemblance to Hope, his mother. After Billie and Bo got married, Billie's roommate, Gina had a blood test that proved that she was, indeed, Hope. She had been found, with amnesia, and had been given the identity of Gina. Billie, putting Bo's welfare before her own, encouraged her

husband at the time to be with his family. Bo and Hope were set to be remarried. But all hell breaks loose when Billie becomes pregnant with Bo's child. Bo claims he still loves Hope, but she won't take him back. Meanwhile, Hope struggles with her identity and strives to recover her past.

The men are either cowards, intelectually challenged, or both. The police force has lost track of more criminals than it has tracked down, unable to successfully seal off a house to prevent a fugitive from exiting, nor have they ever successfully prevented Marlena Evans' kidnapping by the evil Stefano. It is the women in Salem, Kate(a scheming person herself), Lynn (worked for Stefano), Laura (a victim of Stefano who spent many years in a mental hospital), and others, who have done the most exposing of the scheming villains.Vivian Alemain is often an involuntary part of the chaos surrounding the town of Salem. Her love for Victor keeps her

interacting with the evil deceptive villains, such as Stefano, Kristen, and Sami. These have relations and power (well, Kristen had it) at Titan to some degree. Since Victor is the true power at the company, although Kate has stepped in during his current medical condition, Vivian needs their support to keep her current position (in jeopardy) at the company. She, along with her butler/friend/soulmate(from his point-of-view only), also give into Kristen and Stefano for fear of their own lives.

When Vivian and Ivan's(her friend and servant) are exposed by Kristen, Vivian loses all her assets, leaving her literally penniless. Then they meet Jonsey, an elderly man who appears to be rich. Jonsey believes that Vivian is his Flora Dora . Vivian goes along and plays this charade so that she might inherit his millions. But little does she know that Jonsey does not own any of the riches. After Jonesey's death, Vivian believes that she has inherited all his wealth, but she will soon find out that everything belings to Stefano!

The most famous characters, John and Marlena, are part of a very complex love pentagon. John and Marlena are the "couple that was meant to be." Kristen loves John. John likes her, but he loves Marlena more. Marlena and John have communication problems (Marlena believes that John loves Kristen-that's what he tells her and for his sake...; John thinks that Marlena only wants to be friends with him- what did I say about the men being "intellectually challenged?") Kristen knows that John loves Marlena and that Marlena loves John and will do anything to prevent John from finding out, including hiring a pregnant woman to impersonate her

after she miscarries, with the help of her father, Stefano DiMera. The pregnant woman, Susan, refuses to leave Kristen alone after giving birth to the baby. With the help of John and Marlena, Susan finds love with Edmund, an englishman. We discover, though that the father of the baby is Stefano, so Susan will never escape from his evil. Meanwhile, Kristen's "father", Stefano (he raised her but isn't her biological father) is in love with Marlena and has kidnapped her more times than I can count. Each time her love, John Black, rescues her from the evil Stefano Dimera. Kristen's scheming has been exposed, so that John and Marlena might finally have their time together. But just as they are about to marry, Roman, Marlena's former husband reappears with the help of, you guessed it, Stefano and Kristen. Roman is dying, so John and Marlena do not tell him that they are in love. Roman believes that Marlena still loves him, and his dying wish is to marry Marlena. Marlena agrees to this when Stefano presents a cure for Roman's synthetic virus. He is cured. Marlena must now choose between John and Roman. She chooses John, but is troubled with her abandonment of Roman. While all this is going on, a murder occurs, and Marlena must also face a new conflict between morality and personal needs. Marlena suspects that Laura is responsible for the muder and must turn in her good friend to the police, possibly damaging their relationship forever. Laura is cleared of the murder, but not before the damage has been done.
